Numinous Pools for Mental Orchestra (1986). Tim Hodgkinson, sequencing. This was originally scored for real orchestra and later tapped into a computer and revised for midi instrumentation. This was possible because I'd mostly used the orchestra contrapuntally, for its range of contrasting timbres, rather than going for a massive unified sound. The structure of the piece derives from a complex wave-form, like a single chord, the fluctuations of the partials providing the entry and exit points of different layers of musical material such as boogies, pointillisms, and so on.

Il y a dans cette musique une présence d'urgence et de pression sous fond d'ombres insaisissables et d'oppositions discontinues. Et puis réécoutez cette vue renouvelée de la pièce musicale de 1985 'Le poison qui rend fou' est un petit bonheur de succulence à répétition. Merci pour cette parution qui fait énormément plaisir. Mysterious, yet nostalgic, Isolubilia is truly an ode to the romance found in the pursuit of a mystery. Musically rich in turbulence and serenity, majesty and humbleness, this album made me feel both lonely, yet understood as an isolated individual.
